Meeting the needs of Older Adults and the Disabled in Southwest Michigan

    Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program:

The Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program is available to help seniors and caregivers make informed decisions about healthcare and prescription benefits. With the many changes in Medicare last year and in the coming year, our MMAP counselors are very busy supporting, enrolling and providing guidance to seniors.

MMAP counselors are volunteers who have received specialized training in Medicare and Medicaid law and regulations, health insurance counseling and relevant insurance products. MMAP counselors are not connected with any insurance company, nor are they licensed to sell insurance. Their purpose is to serve you objectively and confidentially.

To get assistance from one of Senior Services MMAP Counselors call MMAP's toll-free help line at 1-800-803-7174 and ask to speak with a MMAP counselor. They will assist you over the phone or meet you in person at a location that is convenient to you. MMAP will provide home visit to home bound beneficiaries.

Our local MMAP counselors also make group presentations on the following topics:

    Medicare
    Medicaid
Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Plans (Part D)
    Long term care insurance
    Medicare Medicaid fraud and abuse
Other issues of importance to people in Medicare, their families and caregivers

Our MMAP counselors can help you:

Understand doctor bills, hospital bills and Medicare Summary Notices
Understand Medicare Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, coverage, claims and appeals
Identify resources for prescription drug assistance and help you join a Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Plan (Part D) or enroll in a Medicare Savings Program
Review your Medicare supplemental insurance needs, provide information to compare policies, and pursue claims and refunds
Understand health care options under managed care and Medicare Advantage plans
    Explore long term care insurance
Identify and report scams, identify theft, and Medicare or Medicaid fraud and abuse

MMAP can help you find answers to the important questions. When you call MMAP's toll-free help line at 1-800-803-7174, your call is forwarded to Senior Services MMAP program located at our office at 918 Jasper Street in Kalamazoo.
Ask to speak with a MMAP counselor and they will help you to better understand your benefits.
